The Lincoln Legal Professionals Association awarded the 2010 Carol Nash Memorial Scholarship to Jared Weikum on April 8, 2010. LLPA awards this annual scholarship to students pursuing a career in the legal field. The $500 scholarship shall assist Jared in his studies this coming academic year at Union College, in Lincoln.
Jared Weikum attended high school in Loveland, Colorado and is currently attending Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. In 2009, Jared worked for the State of Nebraska as a Legislative Page, on the floor of the Unicameral assisting in the legislative law process. Jared says that, “I hope to be a professionally practicing attorney after successful completion of a J.D. As far as an emphasis- I hope to practice in the corporate environment, or more broadly in civil law.”
Thank you to Rita Blanco, Spanish Teacher at Southern High School in Wymore; Jeannie O’Meara, Employee Relations Representative for the State of Nebraska AS-ER Division; and Bambi Reynolds, Licensing & Intellectual Property Associate at Li-Cor Biosciences, who acted as judges this year.
