Board Meeting Minutes

 

   

The June 24, 2010 LLPA Board Meeting was held at Rembolt Ludtke Law Firm with the following board members present: Carol Paige, Mary Douglas, Connie Frazier, Lisa Tollefsen, Tammie Lang, Ronda Jackson, Heather Leuschen, and Jill West.  President Carol Paige called the Board Meeting to order at 12:06 p.m.

 

Approval of Minutes: Mary Douglas made a motion to accept the minutes of the June 3, 2010 board meeting as published in LincolNotes.  Motion was seconded by Lisa Tollefsen.  Minutes were approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report: A motion was made by Connie Frazier and seconded by Mary Douglas to accept the May financial report subject to audit.  Motion carried.  Tammie Lang reported the audit was completed and provided an audit report to be kept with the secretary's records.  A bill was presented by Lisa Tollefsen for $19.05 for ten binders.  Mary Douglas moved this bill be allowed, seconded by Ronda Jackson.  Motion carried.

 

Officer Reports:

Vice President: Lisa Tollefsen reported LLPA membership at 49.  Letters were sent to those not renewing.  Membership pins have been ordered.  Mary Douglas made a motion to refund Rembolt Ludtke $5 for overpayment of dues for Rhonda Potts.  Seconded.  Motion carried.

Chapter Representative: Mary Douglas reported on the June 19 EC meeting held in York.  Fall Seminar will be hosted by LPAWN in North Platte at the Hampton Inn on October 2, 2010.  The topic will be Immigration Law.  Sleeping rooms are available for Friday evening.  The final report for the annual meeting was approved.  LLPA will be publishing the Fall SideBar.  Omaha will be hosting the annual NLPA convention at Mahoney State Park on April 29, 30 and May 1, 2011.

Susan Prieb arrived at 12:20 p.m.

Committee Reports:

Program: Several possible dates for the Golf Scramble were discussed.  Mary Douglas will check on availability.

Charitable: No report.

Fundraising: No report.

Bosses Night: Ronda Jackson reported the Nebraska Club has been reserved for a tentative date of April 7, 2011.  The committee is checking on other options for location.

Legal Professional of the Year: No report.

Boss of the Year: No report.

Courtesy: No report.  A suggestion was made that a card be sent to former member Patti Thomsen who is recovering from surgery.

LincolNotes:  Details for the July 23 picnic at the home of Diane Horak will be in LincolNotes.  The deadline for the next newsletter is July 15.

Scholarship:  No report.

Gant List: Heather Leuschen will follow up with members from Wolfe Snowden on the status of the Gant List.

Nominations and Elections:  The position of Nominations and Elections chair remains vacant.

Website: No report.

Historian: Mary Douglas will continue to follow up with Lora Sypal concerning any scrapbook items she may have.

Unfinished Business:

Non-profit status/e-filing: A tax identification number has been received.

New Business:

Jill West from Lapin Law gave a brief demonstration on how a Facebook page might be something LLPA is interested in.  Heather, Tammie and Jill will draft a proposed policy by July 22nd to address matters of personal information, security, and privacy issues if the chapter goes forward with this.

Publication of the Fall Sidebar was discussed.  Individuals were suggested to serve on the committee.

Next Board Meeting.  The next board meeting will be held at noon on July 22, 2010, at Rembolt Ludtke.  The meeting was adjourned at 1:10 p.m.
